Overview

The ED150A delivers full-range sound and controlled dispersion from an easy-to-handle cabinet. It suits foreground sound reinforcement that needs quality sound in a portable format.

A 15" woofer pairs with a 1.4" compression driver, both with aluminum voice coils for low weight and good transient response. Each is driven by its own channel of a Class D amplifier.

The asymmetric vented enclosure works as front-of-house on a stand, pole-mounted on a subwoofer, or as a stage monitor at its 35° wedge angle. Add Axiom SW series subwoofers such as the SW18A for deeper bass.

Coverage and mounting

The asymmetric HF pattern is 100° wide at the bottom of the horn for near-field coverage. It narrows to 60° at the top for focused far-field coverage. It covers a typical auditorium more accurately than a fixed-pattern horn.

Remove four screws to rotate the horn 90°. In monitor mode, the pattern then covers performers both near and far from the wedge. It also keeps ideal coverage when the cabinet is mounted horizontally.

The 15 mm phenolic birch plywood cabinet has a 35 mm pole mount and a recessed handle. M10 and M6 rigging points accept optional brackets.

The KPTED150B wall bracket mounts it vertically or horizontally, with five steps of rotation for accurate aiming. When mounted horizontally, rotate the HF waveguide 90° to keep the best coverage.

Processing and power

The CORE DSP platform, designed by Proel R&D, uses a SHARC DSP at 40-bit, 96 kHz floating-point resolution. Its 24-bit AD/DA converters deliver more than 110 dB of dynamic range.

CORE time-aligns the crossover for a linear phase response, and a constant power crossover gives a smooth LF-to-HF transition. PRONET AX software on CANBUS handles remote EQ, delay, protection and amplifier monitoring.

A DA Series Class D module with SMPS delivers 900 W to the woofer and 300 W to the compression driver. Efficiency is above 90%. Inputs and links use balanced XLR connectors with a ground lift switch, and a locking Neutrik powerCON links mains to more ED150A cabinets.
