Transducers

A low-distortion compression driver with a very light titanium diaphragm and a new suspension design reproduces the high frequencies. A transmission line waveguide loads it for detailed, natural sound and long HF throw.

Two 6.5" woofers with light cones, rubber surrounds and aluminum voice coils handle the mid-bass. The rubber surrounds extend low-frequency response, and the aluminum coils speed up midrange response and control power compression.

A short hybrid transmission line back-loads the woofers. It reduces box resonances, avoids boxy bass-reflex sound, and gives natural cardioid directivity in the upper bass and low mids.

System design

The symmetrical woofer-tweeter-woofer layout is engineered to minimize beaming around the crossover. The HF diaphragm's low resonance allows a crossover point near 900 Hz.

Woofer orientation reduces interference between the two woofers, and a polyurethane acoustic filter further limits midrange beaming. A constant power crossover keeps horizontal coverage and the off-axis image very stable.

Phase linearization adds a linear phase response and coherent time response. Acoustic instruments and voices sound natural, with better depth in the sound image.

Processing, power and hardware

The CORE DSP platform, designed by Proel R&D, uses a SHARC DSP at 40-bit, 96 kHz floating-point resolution. Its 24-bit AD/DA converters deliver more than 110 dB of dynamic range. PRONET software on a CANBUS network handles remote EQ, delay, protection and amplifier monitoring.

DA Series Class D modules with digitally controlled SMPS and variable switching frequency deliver 2000 W maximum, with efficiency above 90%. A rear power output lets each AX2065A drive one additional passive AX2065P, for competitive rental and install systems.

Built-in flying hardware makes installation fast and offers excellent load-bearing capacity. A metal plate with an M20 thread on the bottom panel mounts one or more modules on a standard speaker stand.
