Waveguide and coverage

The 1.4" compression driver is coupled to the Seamless Transition Waveguide (STW). It precisely controls mid and high frequencies on both axes for tight acoustic coupling between cabinets. The horizontal pattern holds down to about 950 Hz.

Music and vocals reach the audience evenly, without hot spots or dead spots. Sharp off-axis rejection keeps sound away from reflective surfaces and fits coverage to the audience area.

Stand-alone point-source speakers with poor directivity interfere with each other and hurt tonal balance and clarity. With the STW, you can build true horizontal or vertical line source arrays in seamless 20° blocks.

Rigging and applications

The tour-grade 15 mm phenolic birch plywood cabinet has four integrated steel rails for KPTAX1012 aluminum coupling bars. Accessories cover horizontal and vertical arrays, ground stacking, and pole mounting of one or two units.

• KPTAX1012H: coupling bar for flying the AX1012 in a horizontal array
• KPTAX1012T: suspension bar for arrays of up to 6 units from a single point
• KPTAX1012V: flybar for vertical arrays of up to 6 units, including down-firing arrays
• KPAX265 pole adapter and KP010 tilt adapter: pole mounting with tilt to aim the sound

Horizontal arrays shape coverage in 20° slices, up to a 360° center cluster. Add Axiom SW18A, SW1800A or SW218XA subwoofers to extend the low end. It suits indoor left-center-right systems and outdoor FOH at small to medium events.

It also serves as out-fill, in-fill or distributed fill for larger systems. Applications include live venues, side-fill, down-firing arrays, delays in stadiums, arenas and theaters, corporate A/V, theme parks, houses of worship, and leisure and fitness.

Processing and power

The CORE DSP platform, designed by Proel R&D, uses a SHARC DSP at 40-bit, 96 kHz floating-point resolution. Its 24-bit AD/DA converters deliver more than 110 dB of dynamic range.

PRONET AX software runs on a CANBUS network for remote EQ, delay, protection and amplifier monitoring. It offers Setup, Edit and Live modes, fast group assignment, array-wide volume, mute and EQ, and saved system snapshots.

A DA Series Class D module with SMPS delivers 900 W to the woofer and 300 W to the compression driver. Inputs and links use balanced XLR connectors with a ground lift switch. Mains connect through a locking Neutrik powerCON, with a link output to more AX1012A cabinets.
