Design

The SW215 is built for applications where very high output matters, along with well-defined deep bass and fast transient response. Its compact size and light weight suit touring, fixed installations and high-level dance clubs.

It uses a manifolded band-pass design. The front sides of the cones are manifolded to maximize coupling between the two drivers. Small cavities, rather than one large resonant cavity, improve definition at the lowest end and in the upper bass.

Drivers

Two high-power 15 in (380 mm) drivers reach up to 33 mm peak-to-peak excursion. A high-stiffness Double Silicon Spider and heavy-duty surround control the movement. The high-strength (BL²/Re) motor uses a flux demodulating ring to control symmetry and excursion.

The 3 in (75 mm) copper voice coil is wound in two layers, inside and outside the former. This doubles the coil surface exposed to cooling air and improves long-term thermal capacity. Cones are high-stiffness reinforced paper with an invisible water-repellent treatment.

The result is solid low-frequency definition and a punchy upper bass, with a deep low end and fast, accurate bass response.

Processing and amplifier

Processing runs on the CORE DSP platform designed by PROEL R&D, using a SHARC DSP. It works at 40-bit, 96 kHz floating point with 24-bit AD/DA converters. Dynamic range exceeds 110 dB.

PRONET software, on a CANBUS network, controls the whole system remotely. It handles EQ, delay and protection settings, and monitors amplifier status.

A DA Series Class D power module with a digitally controlled switch-mode power supply drives the system. Its variable switching frequency gives clear sound at every frequency, strong low-level dynamics and very low distortion at full power. Efficiency exceeds 90% in a compact, lightweight module.

The DA module delivers 2,000 W total (1,000 W + 1,000 W).

Flying hardware

The SW215FA is the flying version of the SW215A. Its built-in suspension lets one or more subwoofers fly with the AX2065 vertical array. Two people can rig a complete array quickly.
